COREPER approves agreements on the Payment Accounts Directive (PAD) and on the Regulation on Key Information Documents for Packaged Retail and Insurance Based Investment Products (PRIIPs)

The Committee of Permanent Representatives of the EU (COREPER) approved today (4.4.2014) the agreements reached between the Greek Presidency and the European Parliament on the Payment Accounts Directive (PAD) and on the Regulation on Key Information Documents for Packaged Retail and Insurance Based Investment Products (PRIIPs).

Welcoming the approval of the deal on the Payment Accounts Directive, the President of the ECOFIN Yannis Stournaras said:

The Committee of Permanent Representatives of the EU (COREPER) today approved the provisional agreement reached between the Presidency and the Parliament on the Regulation on a Single Resolution Mechanism.

Statement by ECOFIN President Yannis Stournaras on adoption of amended Savings Taxation Directive

I welcome today’s adoption by the AGRIFISH Council of the Directive amending the EU rules on the taxation of savings income.
 
This has been a priority of the Greek Presidency, as the amended Directive allows for the extension of the scope to a wider range of savings products and strengthens its effective application, enhancing therefore tax transparency and making a big step forward for the fight against  tax fraud and evasion, and, indeed, tax fairness and social justice.

Statement by Minister Yannis Stournaras on the Single Resolution Mechanism

“The Greek Presidency this morning reached a provisional agreement with representatives of the European Parliament on the Single Resolution Mechanism regulation. This was done in conjunction with the valuable input and contributions by the Chair of the IGC at Ministerial level, Jeroen Dijsselbloem on the aspects of the Single Resolution Fund, which was intrinsic in reaching the overall agreement.

The agreed text will now be submitted to the Member States, and I hope that they will be able to support it.

Council confirms agreement with EP on investment funds

The Permanent Representatives Committee approved today (19.3.2014), on behalf of the Council, an agreement reached with the European Parliament on a proposal to amend EU rules on investment funds (7411/14).

Agreement on capital increase of the EIF improves SMEs access to finance

On the basis of a compromise proposal by the Hellenic Presidency, the Permanent Representatives Committee (CΟRΕPΕΡ II) reached an agreement on the Decision of the European Parliament and of the Council on the participation of the European Union in the capital increase of the European Investment Fund (EIF).

ECOFIN Council: Presidency gets updated mandate for negotiations on the SRM Regulation

Today, the ECOFIN Council gave the Presidency an updated mandate to negotiate with the European Parliament on a Regulation for a Single Resolution Mechanism for banks (SRM). 
The Presidency has put this issue on the top of its agenda as a key priority file.
