Last ECOFIN under Greek Presidency: Mission accomplished

At today’s ECOFIN meeting, the last one under the Greek Presidency, a political agreement was reached on the Commission’s proposal to amend the Parent Subsidiaries Directive (2011/96/EU) on the common system of taxation applicable in the case of parent companies and subsidiaries of Member States.

Last EPSCO (Employment) Council concludes in Luxembourg (19.06.2014)

The last session of the Employment and Social Policy (EPSCO) Council under the Hellenic Presidency, chaired by the Minister of Labour, Social Security and Welfare, Ioannis Vroutsis, took place today (19.06.2014), in Luxembourg, and focused on European Semester related issues and the social dimension of the EU/EMU.

Council of EU Ministers of Health (EPSCO) (Luxembourg, 20.06.2014)

The Council of EU Ministers of Health, chaired by Greek Health Minister Makis Voridis, is taking place in Luxembourg on 20 June 2014.

The main items on the Council’s agenda will be the legislative proposals on medical devices, and in vitro diagnostic medical devices. The Ministers will take note of the progress achieved during the Greek Presidency, followed by a policy debate. The Council is due to adopt conclusions on “the economic crisis and healthcare”, and “nutrition and physical activity”.

General approach on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) legislative package agreed by EU member states

During today’s (18.06.2014) Coreper meeting, Ambassadors of the 28 EU member states agreed on a General Approach on the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) legislative package, comprising the 4th AML Directive and the new Fund Transfer Regulation.

Last AGRIFISH Council focused on school fruit, vegetables and milk scheme and dairy products

During the last AGRIFISH Council under the Greek Presidency held in Luxembourg (16-17.06.2014), Agriculture ministers discussed issues related to school fruit, vegetables and milk scheme, the future of dairy products as well as issues related to the adoption of the regulation on the fisheries landing obligation.

Last ECOFIN Council to take place in Luxembourg (20.06.2014)

The last ECOFIN under the Hellenic Presidency, chaired by the Greek Minister of Finance, Gikas Hardouvelis, is taking place in Luxembourg on 20 June.

During the working breakfast, Ministers will be debriefed on the Eurogroup and the economic situation.

The main session will commence with the Commission presenting to the Council the EU’s draft general budget for 2015.

Last AGRIFISH Council to take place in Luxembourg (16-17.06.2014)

The last AGRIFISH Council, chaired by Greek Rural Development and Food minister, Georgios Karasmanis, is taking place in Luxembourg on 16-17 June.

On Monday, 16 June the Council will address agricultural issues. More specifically, ministers will be briefed on the progress concerning the Commission's proposal for a regulation on aid schemes for the supply of fruit and vegetables and milk in schools.

The Commission will also present a report on the development of the market situation in the dairy sector.
