Minister for Rural Development and Food, Athanasios Tsaftaris, in his capacity as chairman of the Council of EU Ministers for Agriculture, will participate  today (1.4.2014) in a  trilogue with the European Parliament  and the European Commission aiming at reaching agreement on a regulation proposal concerning information and promotion measures for agricultural products on the internal market and in third countries.

The chairman of the Committee of Agriculture and Rural Development, Paolo De Castro will head the EP Parliament delegation and Commissioner for Agriculture, Dacian Ciolos will head the Commission delegation. Minister Tsaftaris will relay the agreement reached at, in the last AGRIFISH Council on 24 March 2014, on the programmes for the promotion of agricultural products on the internal market and in third countries.

The Greek Presidency gives particular priority and importance to the immediate adoption of this regulation and considers that the agreement between the three parties will be finalized.  The adoption of the new regulation is expected to bring multiple benefits to producers’ organisations and to strengthen Member States’ agricultural products exports.
