The Competitiveness Council (COMPET) deals with issues related to the internal market, industry and research responding to the need for a more coherent and better coordinated approach and management of EU competitiveness matters. Depending on the items on the agenda, the Council may include the European Affairs Ministers, Industry Ministers, Research Ministers, or others. It meets about five or six times a year.
