Conference on Vocational Training

Wednesday, 26 March 2014

Zappeion Megaron, Athens

The Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, organize the Conference “Addressing skills mismatches through work-based learning in Vocational Education and Training (VET),” to be hosted on 26 March 2014, at Zappeion Megaron in Athens.

Through this conference, the participating Member States will be given the opportunity to get acquainted with successful VET policies and practices which tackle skills mismatches. They will also have the opportunity to identify priority and innovative actions, in the framework of the Copenhagen Process. The conference focus will be on how work-based learning in VET can meet contemporary challenges. In addition, it will address two other issues: the types of partnerships needed to deliver effective work-based learning, and the role of VET teachers and trainers. Conference discussion will allow an exchange of experience on dealing with these issues.

Finally, the conference will pave the way for the meeting of Directors General for VET, scheduled for the following two days, during which, Directors will debate the next set of short-term deliverables for European cooperation, on VET 2015-2017.
