The General Affairs Council (GAC) brings together the Ministers of Foreign or European Union Affairs of the EU Member States on a monthly basis. It deals with issues that affect more than one of the Union's policies, such as negotiations on EU enlargement, preparation of the Union's multi-annual budgetary perspective or institutional/administrative matters and also co-ordinates the preparation for and follow-up to meetings of the European Council.
