The Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) is organised once every six months by the Council Presidency and prepares the corresponding Ministerial Meeting, which also takes place once every six months. The SOM Meeting is chaired by the Presidency representatives (Secretary Generals) from the competent Ministries on Justice and Home Affairs issues, with the participation of high officials representing the competent U.S. Ministries and the EU institutions.
Representatives from the incoming Presidency as well as relevant European agencies’ representatives will also be present at the Meeting. During this Meeting both sides will have the opportunity to exchange views and opinions through fruitful discussions regarding issues of common interest, aiming in further enhancement of their cooperation on Justice and Home Affairs issues.
