The Foreign Relations (RELEX) Counsellors Working Party is responsible for examining the overall horizontal aspects of the preparation and implementation of Council Decisions, in particular regarding the institutional, legal, logistical and financial dimension of Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP).
The RELEX Counsellors Working Party negotiates Decisions for the setting-up and deployment of missions and operations of Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), before submitting them to the Council of Ministers for adoption. The Working Party supervises also the "Athena" mechanism and is responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of EU restrictive measures.
During their trip to Athens, the Councellors will attend a lecture/round table at the War Museum on "the use of space in the framework of CSDP". Furthermore, they will be briefed at the Hellenic National Defence General Staff by a representative of the EU military operation in the Central African Republic, and they will also visit the Multinational Sea Lift Coordination Centre.
