The Informal Meeting of Energy Ministers of the EU will take place on 15 – 16 May in Athens. The broad thematic areas for discussion include: energy efficiency, energy security, energy infrastructures and the important link between the Europe 2020 strategy and industrial competitiveness and climate and energy policies.
Discussions at the Informal Meeting will comprise three discrete sessions. During working lunch, the Governance for a 2030 framework for climate change and energy will also be discussed.
15 May (afternoon) – Session I
Policy discussion on energy security, with a particular emphasis on high energy EU dependency from imports, South Gas Corridor, East Mediterranean developments, completion of EU internal energy market and putting an end to isolation of Member States from European gas and electricity networks.
16 May (morning) – Session II
Policy discussion on the financing of energy efficiency measures.
16 May (morning) – Session III
Policy discussion on the financing of Projects of Common Interest.
