EU Customs Union governance reform in the fore of the High Level Seminar.
The event is co-organized by the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Greek Ministry of Finance and the European Commission in the framework of the Hellenic Presidency.
Director Generals of the Customs Administrations of EU Member States and representatives of the European Commission and the European Parliament will participate in the conference and exchange views on the reform, future strategies and structure of the Customs Union governance.
A profound reform of the EU Customs Union is the objective of a 2012 Communication of the European Commission, which emphasizes, among other things, the necessity to undertake initiatives in the framework of the “Customs 2020” programme in order to establish a more robust, efficient and coherent Customs Union.
The outcome of this high level seminar will serve as a basis for the evolution and reshaping of the Customs Union with the aim of enhancing economic competitiveness and protecting the citizens of the European Union.
