"The proposed EU Regulation on Personal Data and Online Services: An opportunity not to be lost"

Wednesday, 16 April 2014

Zappeion Megaron, Athens

In light of Microsoft sponsorship of the Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union and under its auspices, Microsoft Hellas is organizing the specific event that will concern the new proposed regulatory framework about personal data protection. The event aims to present the fundamental changes the proposed Regulation’s final adoption is going to bring about, both among citizens and businesses and in the public sector, under the spectrum of online services. To this end, significant speakers from Greece and abroad, representing different fields of specialization, will among others analyze the opportunities and challenges generated by the new proposed Regulation and promote the importance of collaboration among regulating authorities and online service providers in the new era.

In times when terms like “online services”, “cloud computing services” and “online data management” are gaining ground and have become part of our everyday life, generating both unprecedented opportunities and challenges, navigating the new environment with security, transparency and reliability is a top priority for the company. The event in question demonstrates the company’s will to play an active role in the dialogue both about personal data protection and security in the online environment and about the new era’s demand for a different form of collaboration between the public and private sector on issues of the kind.
