EU Common Security and Defence Policy operations to be discussed in Athens

The Informal Defence Ministers Meeting of EU member-states takes place at the “Zappeion Megaron” in Athens, on February 20 and 21, 2014. It will be chaired by Greek Minister of National Defence Dimitris Avramopoulos on behalf of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton.

Informal Meeting of the EU Defence Policy Directors (Athens, 23-24.1.2014)

An informal meeting of the Defence Policy Directors of the EU member states will take place in the Ministry of National Defence on the 23-24 January 2014. The items of the agenda to be discussed during the meeting will cover defence issues pertaining to the Common Security and Defence Policy, with emphasis on the implementation of the last December European Council respective conclusions.

First meeting of the Cooperation Council between the European Union and the Republic of Iraq

The Cooperation Council between the European Union (EU) and the Republic of Iraq held its first meeting in Brussels on 20 January 2014. The meeting was opened by the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs, Catherine Ashton, who headed the EU delegation. Deputy Foreign Minister of Greece, Dimitrios Kourkoulas, was also present and chaired the remaining part of the meeting. The Iraq delegation was led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E.Mr. Hoshyar Zebari.
