Greek Minister of Labour, Social Security and Welfare, Ioannis Vroutsis together with László Andor, Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, will open a conference for the new programming period 2014-2020 of the European Social Fund (ESF), which will take place on 6-7 February 2014 in Brussels.
The objective of the Conference is to discuss how, on the basis of the agreed legal framework, the future ESF could be made more effective and efficient in the 2014-2020 programming period. The conference will explore which policies the ESF could and should support under the new investment priorities and how this could be best achieved. The Conference is co-hosted by the Greek Presidency and the European Commission.
The ESF is one of the five European Structural and Investment Funds, which are the main source of investment at EU level to help Member States to restore and increase growth and ensure a job rich recovery while ensuring sustainable development, in line with the Europe 2020 objectives. The ESF objectives for the 2014-2020 period include: Getting people into jobs, helping young people enter the labour market, social inclusion, better education, stronger public administration
