The Greek Minister of Health Spyridon – Adonis Georgiadis will present tomorrow, 22 January, the Greek Presidency’s priorities in the health area before the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety of the European Parliament (ENVI).
Minister Georgiadis will provide an overview of the health priorities both with regard to the legislative and non legislative fields and respond to questions of MEPs, members of the ENVI Committee.
The Greek Presidency will prioritize the progression of a number of important legislative proposals including (a) the proposals on medical devices and in vitro diagnostic devices, in (b) the proposal on fees payable for pharmacovigilance activities, and (c) the transparency directive (transparency of measures regulating the prices of medicinal products for human use and their inclusion within public health insurance systems).
In addition, the Presidency will work towards promoting more effective health systems and better health by focusing on (a) the economic crisis and health care (Council Conclusions), (b) migration and public health, (c) nutrition and physical activity (Council Conclusions), and (d) e-Health and health innovation.
