The presentation of the Hellenic Presidency work programme, the state of play on the implementation of the Single Supervisory Mechanism, the implementation of the Compact for Growth and Jobs in the follow-up to the European Council of 19-20 December 2013, as well as the implementation of the Stability and Growth Pact are the topics of the first ECOFIN meeting of the year, on January 28.
The Greek Minister of Finance, Yannis Stournaras, will be chairing the meeting.
During the working breakfast, the Ministers will discuss the economic situation and will be informed about the state of negotiations on the intergovernmental agreement on the functioning of the Single Resolution Fund.
At the ECOFIN meeting itself, the European Central Bank will update the Council on the implementation of the Single Supervisory Mechanism, and the Hellenic Presidency will present its work programme and priorities.
The Ministers will discuss the follow-up to the December 2013 European Council meeting regarding the implementation of the Compact for Growth and Jobs.
The Council is also expected to adopt a decision establishing the existence of an excessive deficit in Croatia, with the recommendation to bring an end to the situation by 2016.
A press conference will be held at the end of the ECOFIN Council meeting.
