Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos made the following statement regarding the deadly attack on the Jewish Museum in Brussels:

“On behalf of the Hellenic Presidency of the Council of the European Union, I express my abhorrence of and distress at the murderous attack on the Jewish Museum in Brussels, in the heart of the capital of Europe, which cost the lives of three innocent persons. I send the deep condolences of the Greek people to the families of the victims, and our full support for the government and people of Belgium. This naked act of violence, anti-Semitism and intolerance, at the moment when the European elections are being carried out, strikes at the value core of the European Union and is an affront to all European citizens.”
