The Employment Committee (EMCO) is an institution which is ruled under the Article 150 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU and plays an important role in shaping the European Employment Strategy. It has an advisory role to the Council of Ministers (EPSCO) on issues related to the European Semester and policies relating to the labour market. In this respect, the Employment Committee issues opinions and contributions either upon request of the Council and the Commission, or on its own initiative. The Employment Committee is supported by the EMCO Ad Hoc and the EMCO Indicators Group.
